Post New and looking for input.
I love my "09" just the way it is but as a long time roadracer, performance always has my ear. I am considering some Stage 1 upgrades (PC5 ?, Fuelmoto air intake ?, Vance & Hines, D&D ,or Rush slip-ons ?) and always open for suggestions. I am also looking into the Progressive Suspension gas cartridge front suspension modification and possibly new rear shocks. Any thoughts?

Not sure how many miles you got on it and what the warranty period is. But you might take some of that into consideration before changing to much. That said, on my '08 I put a Zippers High Flow air cleaner. Some mufflers I was loaned, that I eventually paid $100 for. They look nice but are louder than I like and 3 1/2" diameter. I like the 4 inchers and I think I'm going with the D&D Super Boss for my year model. But the D&D's from Zippers they call just Boss, still in 4 inch, are where I'm purchasing them. Actually a few dollars cheaper, at least internet prices. I'm leaving the head pipes stock. And will take way to long to tell you why, but in a nutshell the Dyno numbers for True duals versus stock are about the same untill about 2500rpm. 2500rpm and less is where your gonna cruise the most.

For a tuner I'm going with the Zippers/Thundermax auto tune. (which is still yet to be released for '08 Throttle By Wire) It's way overkill for what I need but room to expand. Also it changes the system from the Delphi system to the older Magnetti Marelli, if I'm pronouncing and spelling it correctly.

The Powercommander and fuel moto stuff I've herd good things about. I think they piggy back the Delphi system.

I hope I was of some help to you. Beautiful bike you got enjoy it.

I'd like to ask some questions on the BMW you got somtimes if you got time for it. My dad Had a '66 when I was a kid and I should own it now but don't. I never actually got it but he told me one time he would give it to me but he was afraid I would strip all the touring gear off of it. I was about 14 or 15 years old at the time and never thought to say I wouldn't. That was about 1977 or 1978. It was a cool bike.

Thanks for the info ML I am considering the warranty issues as well. The Thundermax looks great but three times the price!
I'm always happy to discuss motorcycles especially the Beemer. We can do it here if people are interested or you can contact me off thread at gpducracer@yahoo.com. I've added a couple of pictures. It pretty much stock with the exception of the exaust, but I got it with touring gear attached including the big double saddle, high handlebars (what they call US bars), and REALLY ugly aftermatket bags, windshield and rack. The current dress is the sporty version popular in Europe.

Thanks, that's exactly what I do. Hit the local car shows and bike nights and enjoy the looks and attention that it draws. It's only got 12,000 original miles on it, it starts first kick and runs like a, well, a BMW, I guess you could say.

That is a really sweet looking bike. Bet she rides like a dream and I don't doubt for a second that she draws a crowd!

Thanks for the photos. Very similar to the one my dad had. Not sure what model his was or 100% on the year. I know it wasn't a '63 as that was the year I was born nor a '69 because for some reason I just always liked the number. So it was in between those years but for some reason '66 rings a bell.

His had a very similar front end, same color and same or close pin striping. It had a hollow, batwing looking fairing (black), kind of an hour glass shaped two up seat some luggage rack no real back rest. And darned if I can remember but I think some funny shaped saddle bags (hard). The key switch was on top of the headlight and had a fin on it kinda like the fin on an 8N Ford tractor radiator cap. And the key was like a notched peg. Kick starts on the left side of the bike and it kicks outward not back towards the tail light. The carbs were something a freind of mine called "Beaters", because of the way you primed them. Push the two plungers down untill it overflowed then it was a one or two kick bike. He was older than me so I always figured he new what he was talking about. Maybe not.

One more thing I remember I think it had 600cc stamped into the case somewhere on it. And it was a great rider. It would run with a Honda 750 all day long.
We had photos of all of his bikes but he died back in 1995 and his wife and I were never big buddies, so I guess I'll never see any of that stuff again. Anyway thanks for the photos.

Sounds like an R60/2. They were all the same for years, color and all. He had it set up with the US touring package. And you're absolutely right with the carbs and their "ticklers", that's how you start them. The front end is an "Earles" leading link suspension and designed for sidecar use. Rather than diving upon braking it rises!
Good luck with your radio and I agree on the cover. It stays on pretty securly but I really only use it when parked.
What part of the country are you from, I see you mentioned the impending rain.

Southeast. I live in Middle Tennessee close to Nashville, a city called Murfreesboro. Notice I said city, most of the farm land is gone now. I hate that as I was born and raised here.
It's about the normal rain and tornado season right now. So far we've been lucky with the tornado part.
